St Giles cottage Access Statement

St Giles was built in 1790, we have some sloping ceilings, uneven floors and all of our guest accommodation is on the first floor, for this reason the house although very charming is not suitable for those with severe disabilities.

We have plenty of parking at the front of the house with a short walk to the front door.

There is a 4 inch step/threshold into the porch. On the ground floor there is a short walk to the guest lounge and then 3 steps of slightly different height to the conservatory/breakfast room, this room is tiled.

There are 11 steps to the first floor with 8 inch rise, the staircase is 44inches wide. There is a hand rail to assist you and a small landing at the top.

To the left are R1 and R2.

R1 has a 9 inch up into the room. This is a large double room with plenty of space around the bed and easy access into the en suite shower room.

R2 is a twin bedded room and has a low, sloping beamed ceiling. There is adequate space around the beds but on one side of the bed there is limited head height because of the beams. This room has a private bathroom, up an 8 inch step and a short walk along the corridor with shower over the bath.

From the landing and to the right up an 8 inch step are R3 and R4.

R3 is a double room and has a low, sloping beamed ceiling. It has easy access to the small en suite shower room on the level and then has a 9 inch step down into the main room. There is adequate space around the bed but on one side of the bed there is limited head height because of the beams.

R4 is a double room with adequate space around the bed and easy access into the small en suite shower room.

This is purely an access report for all other emergency information please see main website.
